SAPO to stop paying R350 SRD beneficiaries because of this.
The South African Post Office has declared that the SASSA R350 SRD award would no longer be paid.
Given the recent wave of thefts at post office branches, recipients of the R350 SRD award were recently advised to seek alternate payment options.
Johan Kruger, a spokeswoman for the SA Post Office, said a fresh round of applications for the R350 SRD grant has begun, with applicants now having the choice of receiving their award from any Pick n Pay, Boxer, Shoprite, Checkers, or USave retailer.
“The South African Post Office strongly recommends beneficiaries to include this choice because SRD funds will no longer be paid out at Post Office locations,” he added.
If you’ve already reapplied for the R350 SRD award, Kruger says you may still pick up your grant at any Pick n Pay, Boxer, Shoprite, Checkers, or USave location.
People can do so by visiting srd.sassa.gov.za and responding to the security SMS sent to their phones. They may then edit your application by adding merchants and submitting it.
“To withdraw their grant in supermarkets, beneficiaries must have their own mobile phone number. If you don’t have your own phone number, you should obtain one and apply for your award using that number. On the same page, you may also alter your cell phone number.” Kruger, Johan
Beneficiaries will be assisted in resetting card pins at cash pay terminals, according to Kruger. After that, the card may be used at stores and ATMs.
SASSA recipients who receive old age, disability, or child grants can still pick up their checks at any SAPO branch.
